Prof. Mariko Akuzawa, with Ph.D (in Human Science) from Osaka University . Her research area are human rights education and sociology of education, focusing on challenges in disseminating concepts of universal human rights into local communities through education and training implemented by government, civil society, and national human rights institutions in Northeast and Southeast Asia region, and changing patterns of discrimination in contemporary Japan against minority (Buraku discrimination).
