My name is Tenzin Dechen and I am a legal counselor and General Secretary at Tibetan legal Association. I have a degree in Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Master of commerce (M.com) from University of Delhi , India. My work involves providing legal aid on pro bono basis to Tibetans in exile which involves documentation such as registration of Birth, Marriage, Citizenship, society, shops and other commercial establishment and deals with issues relating to legal status of Tibetans in India, Immigration, deportation and representing victims in reporting complaints in police station and court of law. We also conduct legal awareness workshop from time to time to different settlements, associations, schools, monastery nunneries and Non Governmental organisations .
I Initially started as a human rights lawyer at Human rights law network , HRLN. There I dealt with the cases pertaining refugee rights, women’s rights, prisoners rights and health rights.
