Dr Pavel Doubek is Czech lawyer and researcher focusing on human rights, constitutional law and medical law currently working, as a postdoctoral research fellow, at the Taiwan Foundation in Democracy. In his research, he strives to introduce the recommendations for the establishment of the National Preventive Mechanism under the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture in law in Taiwan. He has gained his PhD degree at the Masaryk University in 2018, where he had been writing a dissertation thesis on the medical intervention without the patient ́s consent. As a visiting scholar, he spent one semester in Norway and Australia studying comparative and medical law. He has published a number of articles in several Czech law journals on a variety of topical issues and has participated in several legal conferences in the Czech Republic and abroad.
